Undergraduate, graduate, and elder students come from various universities, communities and ethnic backgrounds.

Intergenerational learning Learning occurs across age boundaries throughout the school. TIS is privileged to have volunteer “mentors” of all ages who commit to 2 to 12 hours per week throughout the school year. They often work one-on-one with students to nurture a love of reading, gardening, computers , service, and other forms of learning together. Every classroom partners with a senior care facility and visits monthly. TIS has collaborated with Case Western Reserve University, other area colleges, and state and national service learning organizations (e.g. Great Cities, YouthLEAD) to foster younger adult (undergraduate, nursing, medicine, management students) engagement with TIS youths.
